In a significant milestone for Morocco’s burgeoning digital landscape, the National School of Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization (ENAI) in Berkane has secured first place in the nation’s inaugural academic cybersecurity competition. A staggering 1,156 teams, comprising 3,650 students from over 100 institutions across 50 Moroccan cities, vied for supremacy in a rigorous test of cybersecurity prowess.

The Berkane team‘s stellar performance saw them outrank formidable contenders, with the renowned 1337 School earning a commendable second place, and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University securing the third spot on the podium.

The Ultimate Test: A 15-Hour Cyber Gauntlet

Jaafar Khalid, director of ENAI Berkane, emphasized that the competition was meticulously crafted to challenge students and showcase their practical skills in real-world cybersecurity scenarios. The multi-stage event culminated in an intense, continuous 15-hour final challenge.

During this demanding finale, participants were tasked with responding to simulated cyberattacks, safeguarding critical digital systems, and developing proactive defense strategies under immense pressure. Their ability to adapt and innovate in diverse, high-stakes cybersecurity situations was rigorously assessed.

Khalid praised the Berkane students for their profound technical knowledge and exceptional practical application, which were pivotal to their national triumph. Their success is a testament to the high-caliber education and hands-on training provided by ENAI.

ENAI Berkane: Forging Morocco’s Digital Future

Established in 2023 as an integral part of Mohammed I University, the National School of Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization in Berkane stands as a pioneering institution in eastern Morocco. It is dedicated to nurturing expertise in the rapidly evolving domains of artificial intelligence and digitization.

Currently, ENAI is home to over 680 students, with strategic plans to expand its enrollment to 1,000 in the coming years. The school offers a comprehensive three-year program that culminates in a state engineering degree, structured around four specialized tracks:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Software Development
  • Robotics
