Apple’s AirTag Might Get Improved Location Tracking Soon
Meanwhile, a new leak suggests that Apple’s AirTag might get improved location tracking soon.
According to Macworld, a leaked version of internal iOS 26 code reveals several references related to a new version of the AirTag.
However, it’s unclear whether all of these improvements are coming to existing AirTags via a software update or whether they’re related to an entirely new version of AirTag.
New Features and Upgrades
Consequently, the leaked code indicates that Apple is planning to improve Precision Finding, a feature that lets you exactly pinpoint the AirTag’s location when in close proximity.
Moreover, a new feature reportedly called Improved Moving indicates that it might get easier to track an AirTag when it’s on the move.
Additionally, another unnamed feature could improve tracking the AirTag in crowded places.
Other Improvements
Meanwhile, other improvements include better pairing and detailed battery level reporting.
However, it’s unclear whether all of these improvements are related to new hardware or just software updates.
Therefore, we’re betting on the latter, as a new AirTag with a new ultra-wideband chip has been rumored for a while.
