In the realm of contemporary furniture design, Eureka Ergonomic’s Arundel Collection emerges as a masterclass in material harmony and thoughtful execution. At its heart lies a philosophy where the inherent beauty and depth of materials—walnut, tobacco-toned leather, natural stone, and metal—are not merely components but integral determinants of form and scale. This collection, spanning living, dining, and bedroom spaces, challenges conventional notions of luxury, redefining it through substance rather than superfluous ornamentation.

The Philosophy of Depth: Beyond Decoration

For Tom Hu, founder and CEO of Eureka Ergonomic, luxury transcends mere decoration. “Luxury for us is not more decoration,” Hu states, “It is more depth in material, proportion, and execution.” This ethos underpins the Arundel Collection, which skillfully navigates the intersection of two distinct design sensibilities: the enduring comfort and robust character of classic American furniture and the crisp, refined clarity of European modernism.

The collection’s ambition was clear: to strike a delicate balance. Hu elaborates, “We wanted Arundel to be modern without becoming thin or overly minimal; substantial without becoming traditional; materially rich without becoming visually busy.” The result is a suite of pieces that feel both contemporary and timeless, substantial yet elegant, inviting touch and contemplation.

The Art of the Seam: Where Materials Speak

Perhaps the most compelling testament to Arundel’s guiding principle—material composition—is found in its visible seams. These aren’t hidden transitions but deliberate design statements, where one element gracefully yields to the next, often marked by a subtle change in thickness or a stepped level. “We do not always want to hide the join; often that is precisely where the quality of the execution becomes visible,” Hu explains.

Each piece in the collection is characterized by a broad, low profile and softened corners, scaled thoughtfully for generous living spaces. Natural stone, curated in a palette of greens, blacks, whites, and warmer hues, grounds the designs with a sense of gravity. Meanwhile, antique brass and champagne gold accents are judiciously applied to edges and supporting details, adding a touch of refined gleam without overpowering the natural materials. This meticulous approach ensures that “no single material should dominate the furniture,” allowing each to be seen, touched, and appreciated in its own right.

A Home Composed: The Arundel Collection Unveiled

The Modular Sofa: A Journey of Discovery

The modular sofa stands as the collection’s most comprehensive expression. Its flexible design allows for straight runs or corner configurations, ingeniously integrating a warm walnut table directly into the seating arrangement. The main body is upholstered in a warm ivory, complemented by rich cowhide from Italy and South America, lending a luxurious weight to its ends. Hu describes the experience of encountering the sofa as a multi-stage revelation: “first you feel the piece, then you discover how it is made.”

Complementary Pieces for Every Space

Beyond the sofa, the Arundel coffee table elegantly combines wood and natural stone across two distinct heights, accented with champagne gold details. For entryways and dining rooms, a striking console features a broad top supported by crossed, curved elements, while a sophisticated sideboard offers a generous surface atop a slim frame, both pairing American walnut with antique brass.

The bedroom finds its expression in a channel-tufted headboard, trimmed in champagne gold, which seamlessly extends into a vanity and nightstand, creating a continuous, flowing plane. Further expanding the collection’s versatility, a wall system comprising aluminum panels, lit shelving, and glass cabinets offers integrated storage and display solutions, moving beyond traditional freestanding furniture.

Contemporary, Not Temporary: A Legacy of Belonging

Designed to furnish an entire home as a cohesive composition, the six core pieces of the Arundel Collection speak a unified design language. Eureka Ergonomic envisions this language evolving to encompass further storage and architectural elements over time. The name “Arundel” itself was chosen to evoke permanence and a profound sense of belonging. “Contemporary, but not temporary,” Hu emphasizes, highlighting a crucial distinction for the collection.

Making its highly anticipated debut at High Point Market from October 17 to 21, the Arundel Collection will be showcased as a complete residence within Eureka Ergonomic’s fourth-floor showroom, IHFC D440. Positioned within the brand’s “Attainable Luxury” tier, Arundel invites discerning homeowners to experience a new standard of sophisticated, enduring design.
