Eichholtz California: Redefining Luxury Interiors Across the Golden State

For discerning interior designer Ryan Saghian, the allure of Dutch luxury furniture and home accessories brand Eichholtz has long been undeniable. A regular fixture in his own esteemed practice, Eichholtz’s exquisite pieces embody a blend of timeless elegance and contemporary flair. Recognizing a significant opportunity, Saghian embarked on a mission to bring this coveted European sophistication to the West Coast, culminating in the launch of Eichholtz California.

This ambitious venture isn’t merely a replication of the global brand; it’s a meticulously curated experience. Saghian, with his keen designer’s eye, distilled Eichholtz’s vast catalog of approximately 4,000 products into a refined collection of 400, each piece selected through a distinctly Californian lens. The result is a harmonious fusion of European luxury and the relaxed, yet sophisticated, aesthetic of the Golden State.

A Growing Footprint: From LA to the Desert

Following the successful debut of its flagship location in Los Angeles last year, Eichholtz California is rapidly expanding its retail presence across the state. December saw the opening of a stunning Orange County showroom, and anticipation builds for the upcoming Palm Desert location, slated to open its doors this December. Each showroom, while distinctly Eichholtz, offers a unique interpretation tailored to its local market.

The collection itself is a living entity, constantly evolving. The interiors of each showroom are thoughtfully designed to reflect this dynamic aesthetic. Beyond Eichholtz’s signature offerings, visitors will discover a captivating blend of carefully sourced antiques, original art, and pieces from like-minded brands. “I want there to be tension—something glamorous next to something raw, something contemporary next to something that feels collected,” Saghian explains, highlighting his vision for a layered and engaging design narrative.

Visionary Leadership and Strategic Expansion

The genesis of Eichholtz California’s West Coast operation began with a 6,000-square-foot store in West Hollywood, co-founded by Saghian, serving as creative director, and his partner Anthony Checetto, a former antiques dealer now heading retail operations. Their combined expertise laid the groundwork for what was to become a significant retail force.

The vision expanded further with the introduction of retail executives and entrepreneurs Michael Webster and James Lunsford as co-founders. “Mike and James brought complementary strengths and a shared vision for what Eichholtz California could become, allowing us to think much bigger,” Saghian notes. This powerful quartet subsequently brought the retail concept to a sprawling nearly 8,500-square-foot space in Costa Mesa, solidifying their commitment to a robust California network.

Tailored Experiences for Diverse Markets

As the four founders prepare to unveil the Palm Desert showroom in the city’s vibrant design district, they emphasize that this new location will offer a decidedly different ambiance from its predecessors. This intentional variation is central to their strategy. “The idea was never to open three versions of the same store—it was to build a California network where each location responds to its market,” Saghian clarifies.

He elaborates on the strategic placement: “West Hollywood was the natural starting point because it puts us in the heart of Los Angeles design. Orange County gave us an opportunity to reach an entirely different design community at SoCo, and Palm Desert felt like the natural third piece because the desert has such a strong relationship with architecture, interiors, and second-home living.”

The Ever-Evolving Showroom Experience

A unifying thread across all Eichholtz California locations is the commitment to a perpetually refreshed showroom floor. Pieces are constantly rotated as they sell, and new arrivals are integrated, ensuring a fresh and inspiring experience with every visit. “The showroom is never really ‘finished,’” Saghian affirms. “That’s part of what makes coming back exciting.” This dynamic approach ensures that Eichholtz California remains a vibrant hub for design inspiration, continually offering something new to discover for interior designers and luxury enthusiasts alike.
