Maker Faire Rome: Europe’s Innovation Ecosystem Beckons (October 23-25th, 2026)
“Maker Faire Rome has been building something rare: a space where experimentation becomes visible, where talent meets opportunity, and where Rome stands out as a leading innovation ecosystem,” affirms Lorenzo Tagliavanti, president of the Rome Chamber of Commerce. Over 13 years, this European powerhouse has attracted more than 895,000 visitors and showcased over 7,000 exhibitors from across the globe.
The 14th edition, Maker Faire Rome – The European Edition, will unfold from October 23rd to 25th, 2026, at the Gazometro Ostiense. Organized by the Rome Chamber of Commerce through Innova Camera, the team behind this human-centered event has extended the deadline for its 2026 calls for participation to June 30th.
Multiple Avenues for Participation:
- Call for Makers:
Open internationally for projects spanning robotics, AI, IoT, sustainability, digital fabrication, agritech, wearables, food technology, space technologies, and other applied innovations.
- Call for Schools: Inviting educational institutions to showcase student projects.
Call for Universities and Research Institutes:
A platform for academic teams and researchers.
These calls provide an extended window for makers, students, researchers, and innovators to submit their projects. Evaluation criteria include prototype functionality, creativity, originality, visitor interaction, novelty, technical feasibility, and safety.

MakeITcircular 2026: Innovating for a Sustainable Future
In its sixth edition, Maker Faire Rome also hosts MakeITcircular 2026, a prestigious contest dedicated to circular economy projects. This initiative seeks solutions involving reuse, repair, recycling, eco-design, durability, resource efficiency, and reduced environmental impact. Open to individuals aged 18+, companies, public and private bodies, and associations based in Italy, projects submitted to the “Circular Economy” category of the Call for Makers are automatically considered.
The winning project will be awarded 3,000 euros, with two honorable mentions each receiving 1,000 euros. Entries are judged on their alignment with the Circular Consumption Charter, environmental impact, feasibility, and technical maturity. MakeITcircular provides a practical stage for these vital principles to be tested and discussed with the public.
