From May 30th through the weekend, Maker Faire Caserta transformed Piazza del Pace into a dynamic arena where the past and future converged. The event, strategically included in the official calendar for the National Made in Italy Day, showcased how traditional skills seamlessly blend with the frontiers of Industry 4.0, advanced robotics, and sustainable practices. A cornerstone of the Faire was the ‘Talk Maker Ambassador’ space, drawing luminaries like Mattley Digital Craftsman and Carlo Blumer of PB Factory, whose insights resonated deeply with the national maker community. Meanwhile, the ‘Core Stage’ buzzed with spectacular live interactions, from the captivating Cosplay Robot by Wasama Creative Factory to the electrifying scientific demonstrations by Leonardo Electricguy (Scrap Yard Science) and the futuristic displays within the Drone Cage. Attendees also engaged with the Scientific Police’s crime scene area and marveled at Donato Gallo’s striking Geodesic Dome.

Projects ranged from adaptive greenhouse and vineyard water management systems by IIS Carafa Giustiniani to IoT innovations from IT G.C. Among the standout exhibits was an automated production line, a marvel of engineering designed for complete production cycle management—from feeding and handling to processing and sorting. Controlled by an S7-1200 PLC, this system integrated a robot capable of dynamic operational sequences, all supervised via an HMI and web interface, embodying Industrial IoT principles. Leonardo Bellisari, the ‘Electricguy,’ captivated audiences with his passion for science, presenting a Tesla coil, super microwave, and electric arcs that ‘bend fire with electricity’ using recycled materials. Another impactful innovation was ‘Bee-watch,’ an autonomous, non-invasive system for monitoring bee activity. Recognizing bees as vital bioindicators, this device uses sound, light, and infrared to detect presence and document activity, showcasing electronics as a tool for environmental protection and regeneration.
