According to government spokesperson Mustapha Baitas, the Ministry of Interior spearheaded a massive inspection drive, conducting an impressive 43,412 checks across various markets. This rigorous monitoring, spanning from the 1st of Shaaban to the 6th of Ramadan, brought to light a total of 4,038 market violations.
The nature of these violations varied, leading to different enforcement actions. Baitas detailed that 1,101 cases resulted in formal warnings, serving as a deterrent for future non-compliance. More severely, 2,937 cases were deemed serious enough to warrant referral to the competent courts, with official reports filed for legal proceedings.
273 Tons of Unfit Products Seized and Destroyed
A critical aspect of these inspections was the removal of substandard products from circulation. During the specified period, dedicated committees successfully seized and subsequently destroyed approximately 273 tons of goods. These products were either deemed unfit for human consumption or failed to meet the stringent regulatory standards in place, highlighting a proactive approach to public health and safety.
