Baleària’s data illustrates a dramatic increase in traffic, with international passenger numbers soaring by an impressive 68% in 2025, nearing the two-million mark. Overall, Baleària transported 6.5 million passengers throughout the year, marking a robust 15% increase from the previous period. Vehicle transport also saw substantial growth, with 1.6 million vehicles carried, an 11% rise year-on-year. Total revenues climbed by 16% to approximately $865 million, while net profit witnessed an astounding 152% surge year-on-year, reaching around $68 million.
Freight activity proved to be a significant contributor to this success. Trade flows with Morocco alone accounted for 29% of Baleària’s total cargo volume, translating to 8.4 million linear meters – a 10% increase, equivalent to approximately 622,000 trucks. Cargo transport contributed a substantial 36% to the company’s overall revenue, reaffirming its critical role in maintaining logistical continuity between Europe and North Africa.
Charting a Sustainable Future: The Green Corridor Initiative
Looking ahead, Baleària is not only consolidating its presence on the Spain–Morocco axis but also pioneering a sustainable future for maritime transport in the region. The company is actively developing a “sustainable maritime corridor,” an ambitious initiative that includes the construction of two fully electric fast ferries. These cutting-edge vessels are slated to operate on the Tarifa–Tangier route, forming what Baleària proudly describes as the first green corridor between the two nations.
