Maker Spotlight: Retro Roadshow

Since 2023, Retro Roadshow has been a crowd favorite at Maker Faire Bay Area, showcasing a curated collection of vintage computers and consoles.

However, the story behind the exhibit is just as fascinating. Founder Huxley Dunsany grew up in the 90’s with a passion for computers and video games, but his family was poor and frequently homeless.

Consequently, Huxley learned to appreciate the value of older, cheaper technology and began collecting vintage computers and games at thrift shops and yard sales.

The Retro Roadshow Family

Today, the Retro Roadshow is a family affair, with Huxley and his wife Sarai collaborating on the exhibit, and their teenage son Rhyal joining in on the fun.

Moreover, the family’s passion for art and creativity is evident in their multimedia presentations, which have become a highlight of their events at schools, libraries, and universities.

Meanwhile, Sarai has found her own artistic expression in creating these presentations, which she describes as “alive with fun animations, elegant transitions, embedded audio and video, customized graphics, and more.”
