Control’s Action-RPG Sequel Launches in 2026
Meanwhile, Remedy Entertainment has finally unveiled the much-anticipated sequel to Control, dubbed Control Resonant.
However, the new game takes place seven years later and shifts the setting from the unsettling Oldest House of the original to a more open Manhattan.
Consequently, players will take on the role of Dylan Faden, brother of Control protagonist Jesse, as he harnesses his new powers to combat a mysterious cosmic entity.
New Gameplay Features and Release Date
Moreover, the sequel introduces a new shapeshifting melee weapon, which players will use to take down enemies in a bigger, more memorable experience.
Therefore, the game’s scale is being pushed beyond anything Remedy has done before, with a focus on combat, exploration, and storytelling.
In addition, Resonant will be available on PS5, Xbox, PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), and Mac (via Steam and the App Store), but a specific release date has yet to be announced.
Remedy’s Ambition and Challenges
However, the studio is facing a challenging time, having released its first multiplayer and self-published game, FBC: Firebreak, which had a disastrous launch.
Consequently, CEO Tero Virtala stepped down from his position, and Resonant will be a big part of turning around the studio’s fortunes next year.
Therefore, the game’s success is crucial for Remedy’s future, and fans are eagerly waiting to see how it will perform.
