DoorDash Driver Faces Felony Charges After Alleged Food Tampering
Meanwhile, a DoorDash driver is facing felony charges after allegedly spraying customers’ food with a substance that made them vomit.
According to a press release from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on December 7 when a man contacted them about a DoorDash delivery that had gone wrong.
The man and his wife had ordered fast food through DoorDash, but after eating, they experienced a burning sensation in their mouths, noses, throats, and stomachs.
Investigation Reveals Suspicious Behavior
However, things took a turn when the man noticed something red had been sprayed on the delivery bag, prompting him to check footage from their doorbell camera.
The footage showed the driver, identified as Kourtney Stevenson, appearing to spray a substance towards the food from a small aerosol can attached to her keychain.
Furthermore, the sheriff’s department said that Stevenson told local police in a phone call that she had been working for DoorDash while visiting her father, and that she’d used pepper spray to spray a spider.
DoorDash Takes Action
Consequently, DoorDash has banned Stevenson from the platform, stating that they have “absolutely zero tolerance for this type of appalling behavior.”
In addition, the company’s spokesperson said that their team is supporting law enforcement with their investigation.
Extradition and Charges
Therefore, Stevenson is now awaiting extradition to Indiana, where she faces charges of battery resulting in a moderate injury and consumer product tampering.
Moreover, the sheriff’s department obtained a warrant to arrest Stevenson after she allegedly declined to come in for an interview.
